After lunch, we wandered around Hastings Old Town and somehow ended up at the top of the East Hill.
From the hill, we watched as the last of the fishing boats came back to the beach.
And it’s easy to see why the historic coastal town generates so much interest - its picture-perfect cobbled streets and lively vibe make for a heady mix.
We had mushy peas (£1.20) on the side, which were pretty good. The restaurant was booked fully that Thursday and people were turned away.
They open very early in the morning and close after lunch.
You can cook up a feast on the range cooker in the pretty kitchen whilst the rest of your group indulge in some serious chilling; there’s Netflix, Xbox, record player, wifi and a wireless speaker.
Alternatively you can entertain long into the evening in the garden, with its lush plants, BBQ and colourful seating area.
